Position Summary 
Provides a variety of paying and receiving functions for customers in person, via phone, and through mail, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers' checks and cash advances. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Answers customers’ questions regarding bank services. Actively cross sells Bank products and services. Opens checking, savings and CD accounts. Serves customers promptly and professionally. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Transactional/Customer Assistance 
    • Process customers’ deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, loan & cash advances, issue cashier’s checks, recording night and mail deposits, redeem savings bonds.
    • Fill in teller forms completely and know the difference between a debit and a credit. 
    • Balances cash drawer accurately/consistently and verifies cash totals.  Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.
    • Verifies transactions.  Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability.  Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
    • Assist customers with safe box procedures.
    • Assist with coin machine duties.
    • Answer phone.
    • Complete special requests by closing accounts, taking check orders, selling gift or travel cards and filling in wire transfer requests.
    • Open new business and consumers accounts including but not limited to:  checking, savings, CD, IRA
    • Account changes such as adding/removing customers/signers.
    • Assist customers with online banking needs such as password resets and basic functionality questions.
    • Fill in maintenance forms for CIF and account changes:   address, phone, email, etc.
    • Answer questions in person or by phone and referring to other bank services as necessary.
    • Routinely provide customers with necessary account information.
    • Familiar with customers’ resources to be able to assist customers.
    • Travels to other extension office location(s) as needed.
    • Maintain teller machines; scanners, receipt printers, coin counter and currency counter
 
  1. Cross selling 
    • Cross sell bank products by answering inquiries; informing customers of new services and products; ascertaining customers' needs; directing customers to the appropriate bank representative.
 
  1. Other Activities
    • Ability to demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job functions and apply to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Must be able to keep up to date on regulations changes. Follow all bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required, annual required, or job-specific training. 
    • Promote Fairfax State Savings Bank/Bankhaus as a relationship driven, community building financial institution.
    • Provide co-workers with positivity and provide support.  Maintains a professional and courteous attitude with all people including fellow employees, customers, management, board members and outside vendors.
  • Assist in the opening and closing duties and operations of the bank.
  • Assists other staff with duties as requested.

  • High school diploma
  • Cash handling experience preferred.
  • Well-developed customer and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak clearly, understandably, and listen to customers/prospective customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to question customers to determine their banking needs.
  • Working knowledge of web based technology and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of all Bank services and products.
  • Recognize any suspicious behavior and have the ability to make decisions on when to consult higher management on any transactions.

• Must be able to hear normal conversations and receive ordinary information; 
• Dexterity – Must be able to make small movements such as counting money, typing and picking up small objects; 
• Sedentary work, standing, and /or sitting most of the time. 
• Walking some of the time to and from centralized work areas (i.e. printers, teller drawers, debit cards, copy machine, safety deposit boxes, etc.)
• Lifts up to 25 lbs. (full coin bags/boxes) occasionally.

Part-time: Monday-Thursday with availability between 8:30am – 4:30pm; Friday availability between 8:30am – 6:15pm and rotating Saturday mornings. Average 25 hours/week.
