Business Systems Analyst

TrueNorth, an Insurance and Financial Strategies firm, has an immediate opening for a Business Systems Analyst in our headquarters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The primary responsibility of the Business Systems Analyst is to drive efficient and effective use of Technology Business Solutions to ensure a best in class client experience and improve operational efficiencies. The Business Systems Analyst reviews, analyzes and evaluates business users' needs to implement solutions that support corporate strategies and initiatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze current business solutions and make recommendations for utilization and process improvements
  • Identify opportunities to increase productivity, efficiency, quality or client satisfaction and/or opportunities to reduce expense and eliminate waste
  • Collaborates with business users and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate into thorough and detailed business requirement documentation that can be presented to all levels of management, clients, development teams and vendors
  • Conducts research to determine if solutions to business requirements currently exist within the organization and if not, whether new solutions are feasible
  • Collaborate with vendors and/or developers on business requirements and implementation of new features
  • Implement enhancements to business applications; keep current on new features and functionality to create recommendations for process improvements, best practices and utilization of the systems
  • Creates or provides input to the development of formal business cases when new or enhanced business solutions are proposed
  • Consider the impact to current and future business environments and processes, assessing upstream & downstream effect of system and reporting changes
  • Work with the business to develop detailed user acceptance test cases and flows; including devising test plans, creating test cases, establishing protocols and appropriate testing environments and coordinating testing
  • Manage the implementation of Business solutions projects to ensure successful project outcomes by following Project Management processes and procedures
  • Understands and implement best practice business processes to ensure compliance and data quality
  • Ensure change management processes are followed as well as make improvements to the process to ensure governance across the organization
  • Support, coordinate and/or facilitate the training & documentation for users throughout the organization to ensure the most effective use of business solutions
  • Train new and existing users on "how to" usage of business applications as well as keep application users informed about system functionality and enhancements
  • Create and maintain documentation on processes, policies, application configuration and help related materials for end users
  • Communicate/Collaborate with developers on integration issues and improvements with Data Warehouse/Agency Mgmt. Systems
  • Provides business solution transition support for mergers and acquisitions as needed
  • Promotes new technology opportunities and trends to business partners
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices and participating in professional societies
  • Perform other duties as assigned, appropriate to the position

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required
  • Minimum of five years Business Analysis experience including requirements analysis, requirements gathering and business process improvement
  • Minimum of four years of project management experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required
  • MS Project, Visio and SharePoint experience is preferred
  • Prior experience in the Insurance industry is desirable
  • Experience with Agency applications like Applied Epic, CSR24, Concur, DocuSign is desirable

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and changing business requirements
  • Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills - must be able to manage projects and time independently
