Financial Services Representative (Teller)

As an FSR you will work in tandem with other Financial Services Representative and Account Executives to deliver our members outstanding service and proactively promote our superior credit union products on a daily basis!

Strong candidates will possess prior sales experience with a history of proven results, an unparalleled focus on delivering exceptional customer service, and have experience/be comfortable with computer systems/programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows). In addition, accuracy, attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities are a must. In this role you will act as the Credit Union's representative to the members and general public. The FSR Provides quality service to members and staff of the UICCU in daily transactions and inquiries. You'll also provide information and/or answers to questions regarding transactions and all Credit Union products and services. As an FSR, you will be required to cross-sell additional Credit Union services to new and existing members with referrals to appropriate departments.

Pay Range: $11.41 - $17.11

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  4. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.

  5. Ensures confidentiality of member account records and account information. Request identification whenever necessary and provide account information to only those members listed as primary or joint owners.

  6. Answer member questions or refer members to appropriate departments or supervisors.

  7. Assist with member account discrepancies, statement problems, and complaints.

  8. Perform member transactions including; deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, loan payments, credit card payments, cash advances, bond redemptions, disbursement of official checks, sale of money orders, cashier checks, savings bonds, and promotional sales materials.

  9. Maintain a satisfactory balancing record.

  10. Cross-sell credit union products and services to new and existing members by being proactive in communication - in person or by emails, outbound sales phone calls, letters or other sources. Be able to identify a need and present information as suited to those needs. Maintain a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of each product or service.

  11. Accept and examine checks for endorsements and negotiability. Determine availability of funds based on regulations and policy. Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds when necessary, provide member with the proper documentation.

  12. Operate drive-up equipment such as tubes, drawer, and microphone.

  13. Operate imaging equipment and balance outgoing image files on a daily basis.

  14. Daily processing of mail and night deposit transactions.

  15. Accurately and neatly complete all forms including: negotiable instrument logs, vault cash advances/turn-ins, direct deposit, payroll deduction, and member check orders.

  16. Participate in all day-end closing procedures. Secure and balance cash drawer/key and all negotiable instruments, clean the FSR area and turn off all equipment (computers, copier, adding machines, lights). Refer to branch closing checklist for a complete listing of duties.

  17. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events on an annual basis.

  19. Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Attend to phone in FSR area and answer basic membership calls

    • Perform clerical work such as filing

    • Maintain professional correspondance with members

    • Maintain and update member information on the computer system, such as address, phone number, and employment information




FSRs may also be responsible for the following duties, as assigned:

  1. Act as a leader; assist other FSRs as a mentor and role model.

  2. Assist FSRs with daily work including balancing and reconciliation of offages.

  3. Monitor and manage the vault including cash disbursements, balancing, and end of day lock-up. Ensure that sufficient, but not excessive, funds are on hand at all times.

  4. Responsible for ensuring the completion of day-end procedures including securing the vault, daily cash letter, and distribution of work to appropriate Credit Union personnel and departments.

  5. Assist in security procedures. Has access to and is accountable for office keys and combinations.

  6. Balance, maintain, and correct the coin machine. Prepare and tag coin bag deposits and post to the appropriate GLs.


Job Requirements/Expectations:

  1. Interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive way during member contact.

  2. High energy with the ability to approach individuals and engage in a conversation to successfully win business and open accounts.

  3. Completion of the Service Blocks Program within designated deadlines.

  4. Accuracy in the handling of cash and recording daily transactions.

  5. Good oral communication skills and the ability to produce written communication.

  6. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  7. Good telephone manners and techniques.

  8. Ability to use and understand written material.

  9. Ability to work with minimal direction and exercise sound judgment.

  10. Ability to perform basic math calculations.

  11. Member account problem-solving skills.

  12. Proficiency with related computer applications, spreadsheets, word processing, and database applications.

  13. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

  14. High school diploma or the equivalent (i.e. GED).

  15. Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience desired.

  16. Must be bondable.

  17. Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand.


Reporting Relationship:
Reports to Branch Managers as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position is not responsible for supervision of other employees.
