    • This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by developing, executing and directing physician and provider recruitment, relations, integration, retention and engagement strategies to support Mercy’s strategic plan, service line and overall network development goals.

    • Job Duties
      • Consults with Executive Team, service line and operational leaders to determine physician and provider needs and to provide recruitment and retention progress reports.
      • Accountable for effectively implementing the full provider recruitment lifecycle to achieve organizational goals, including obtaining and leveraging demographic research to drive talent forecasting; developing strategic sourcing and recruiting strategies and plans to support talent needs for network growth, and monitoring the effectiveness of these strategies and plans.
      • Owns the provider recruitment process from the initial contact to closure in a timely and cost-effective manner to achieve stated objectives. Matches physician and provider candidates with current and future opportunities. Completes thorough screening and reviews qualifications to establish potential suitability/organizational fit. Provides timely follow up with candidates throughout the recruiting process including interviews, offer, negotiations, relocation and contract signing.
      • Informs key stakeholders about search progress, internal performance, market themes/trends, candidate feedback and other strategic and tactical insights.
      • Collaborates with the legal team to develop contracts including employment agreements, professional service agreements and amendments. Serves as the primary liaison to the legal department for physician and provider contracts.
      • Stays abreast of current local, state, regional and national industry trends and researches best practices and competitors’ activities to ensure Mercy’s ability to recruit and retain top provider talent. Identifies potential risks and prepares action plans to address concerns.
      • Ensures the effective onboarding of newly hired providers in collaboration with the human resources team.
      • Plans and executes physician and provider professional development/education programs. Facilitates the development of the dyad leadership development program and supports dyad partnerships.  Provides staff support to provider leadership committees and supports the succession planning process.
      • Develops and executes provider communication strategies. Develops agenda and facilitates provider meetings.
      • Plans and executes provider award, recognition, retention, engagement and wellbeing activities and events.
      • Develops and maintains outreach programs with regional educational institutions to develop a pipeline of qualified provider candidates. Attends local, regional, or national conferences for desired medical specialties.
      • Collaborates with and supports operational leaders and departments throughout Mercy to ensure provider recruitment, relations, integration, retention and engagement goals are accomplished.
      • Oversees provider engagement survey process, including planning, administration, communication and action plan development/implementation to achieve provider retention and engagement goals.
      • Negotiates third party vendor contracts to support provider recruitment (i.e., retained and/or contingency search firms), temporary staffing companies (e.g., locum tenens agencies), and consulting firms used to obtain provider compensation market data. Oversees the locum tenens engagement process. 
      • Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure compliance with employment laws/regulations/accreditation requirements and alignment with Mercy’s organizational and Human Resources policies and practices.
      • Leads the Physician Relations team and function to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
      • Develops and manages the budget for the Physician Recruitment Department.
    • Follows Mercy's safety guidelines, carries out job- specific safety duties and responsibilities, and promptly reports any unsafe conditions, situations, incidents and injuries.

  • Professional Experience
    • 7+ Years' experience in Healthcare required
    • 3+ years of leadership experience required
    • 5+ years of professional recruitment and/or relations experience preferred
       
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration or related field required.
    • Master's degree preferred.
