This position supports Mercy’s philosophy of patient centered care by overseeing all technical and operational issues associated with the management of the Radiology Department.

Job Duties
  • Oversees operations of the Radiology Department in the absence of the Director
  • Provides supervision and technical expertise to the imaging staff
  • Interviews and makes recommendations for hiring staff
  • Responsible for employee performance and development
  • Oversees and facilitates all processes associated with patient flow
  • Ensures efficiency and productivity within the department
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory mandates
  • Assists with capital and operating budget on an annual basis
  • Identifies and assists with opportunities for performance improvement activities on the unit and with other service areas
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by taking ownership of time management, decreasing waste (of time and supplies) and promoting cost effectiveness while maintaining patient safety and quality of care
  • Exhibits a positive attitude, personal initiative and motivation to achieve the goals of the unit
  • Fulfills requirements of attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping practices

Professional Experience
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Education sufficient to obtain proper licensure/certification
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Required to be registered in one of the following: ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), A.R.R.T. (American Registry or Radiology Technologist) and certified by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), or CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and certified by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in accordance with the American Heart Association required within 60 days of hire.
  • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.  Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.

  • Medium: Exert 20-50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 10-15 lbs. of force frequently
