This position supports Mercy’s mission to improve patient centered care by analyzing complex organizational processes and systems in order to identify, develop and execute action plans to achieve the strategic priorities for system performance improvement. This position will facilitate, coach and execute cross-departmental, cross functional, complex, as well as rapid improvement projects requiring strong collaboration with clinical and operational leaders using the Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. This position will provide change management leadership and Lean/Six Sigma coaching to Mercy leaders, focus on improving quality and value to our patients and staff including improved clinical outcomes, patient experience, safety, costs, revenue, productivity, efficiency and process reliability. 
 
Job Duties
  • Mentors and develops Lean/Six Sigma Green Belts on process improvement initiatives.
  • Serves as secondary Administrator for Laborworkx Time/Attendance Systems.
  • Consults with Labor Resource Analyst to identify labor optimization opportunities.
  • Applies appropriate change management methods to promote implementation of change.
  • Serves as a project facilitator/lead and technical resource for teams working on major complex performance improvement efforts focusing on improved quality, to include clinical outcomes, patient experience, safety, costs, revenue, productivity, efficiency and process reliability. 
  • Analyzes data, to identify opportunities and makes recommendations to the Executive Team for cost saving and process improvement initiatives in conjunction with the Financial Improvement Team.
  • Communicates improvement initiatives and results regularly with the Executive Team and Mercy System to encourage best practice and benchmarking of similar processes.
  • Manages multiple initiatives, deadlines and priorities in an environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Manages a portfolio of projects with the requirement to bring about effective sustainable improvement.
  • Assists the organization in defining critical to quality and process improvement metrics and develop scorecards to track outcomes.
  • Assists leadership with identification of process improvement opportunities, ensures integration into overall strategic plans and assists with tracking/alignment of project resources.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively at all levels of the organization to achieve strategic goals.
  • Ability to cope with ambiguity and set organizational priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to successful completion with documented achieved results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Visio) to communicate and document project progress and outcomes.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving and management skills with demonstrated ability to think logically and critically to drive conclusions from data evidence.
  • Ability to initiate programs, plan activities (including executives and departmental leadership) and make decisions within the framework of the responsibility and authority of this position.
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and interpretation of statistical data.
  • Experience working with statistical analysis software (for example, Minitab). 
Professional Experience
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with business process improvement required.
  • Experience in process improvement training or education, along with the ability to develop and coach six sigma green belts preferred.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Previous independent facilitation of process improvement teams required. 
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, finance, business administration, health care administration, or related field required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certification Preferred (must obtain Black Belt certification within 1st year, if not certified at hire).
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Light: Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
