The Department of Pathology is seeking a Manager, UIDL to direct the administrative, marketing, operational, and clinic activities of the Referral Testing Program and assist with the planning and development of the program. 

Duties to include:

  • Supervision of the activities of the Department of Pathology Referral Testing Program.
  • Manage all referral testing program fiscal activities and develop program objectives.
  • Review referral testing program clinic activities and make recommendations for changes in utilization of facilities, services, and staff.
  • Direct the sales/marketing activity of the program.
  • Direct the activities of client and courier services.

The Department of Pathology is part of UI Health Care, a comprehensive health sciences center that serves Iowa and the region, as well as patients referred from the United States and overseas. Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Hospital/Health Administration or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years directly related marketing, healthcare administrative, or business experience
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year experience in directly related capacity in a referral testing program, with some supervisory experience
  • Reasonable knowledge of accounting, data processing, and personnel administration
  • Considerable knowledge of similar hospital/departmental policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in computer software applications
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Membership in CLMA (Clinical Laboratory Management Association) or ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology)
  • Experience with physician office administration
