Overview

The Manager of Financial and Business Applications provides oversight for financial program analysts throughout UnityPoint Health.  The Manager of Financial Applications is responsible for direct management of the financial applications, including ERP and timekeeping.  The role ensures financial application services are provided in the areas of lifecycle management, implementation, support, optimization, disaster recovery, incident management and business continuity support.  This position works directly with all levels within the organization including Information Technology, Finance, Human Capital, and Supply Chain Leadership.  

Responsibilities

Management 

  • Collaborates with project management to provide for high quality, on time, and on budget implementations by managing resources and actively engaging to address significant risks and issues.  Provides project management and statusing for smaller scope initiatives. 
  • Contributes to organizational planning by assisting in the evaluation of incoming project requests to develop the global Information Technology (IT) workplan. 
  • Populates and maintains resource plans using standard PMO tools. 
  • Follows and understands healthcare technology trends, applying these as appropriate to support organizational strategy and vision. 
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the team including work schedules and staffing needs

Staff Development and Communication 

  • Responsible for staff selection and onboarding, performance management (including performance appraisals), retention, and offboarding within the department in accordance with Human Resource guidelines. 
  • Creates and executes on plans for staff growth, cross-training, development, productivity, engagement and satisfaction.  
  • Establishes productivity expectations, monitors assignments relative to incoming requests and adjusts to achieve maximum productivity. 
  • Establishes effective mechanisms of communication with staff and the leadership team to foster an environment of openness, trust, teamwork, and staff development.

Culture of Excellence  

  • Responsible for creating a culture of innovation, learning, teamwork, and professionalism consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of UnityPoint Health 
  • Providers for efficient and effective system support in accordance with service level agreements for issue resolution. 
  • Participates in root cause and analysis and problem-solving activities to improve customer service and experience.

Fiscal Responsibility 

  • Actively pursues and participates in operational improvement and cost reduction efforts for IT and the larger UPH organization. 
  • Prepares and manages a departmental operational budget including monthly analysis of budget variances, initiation of corrective action or justification of non-adherence. 
  • Identifies trends to be used for future budget planning. 
  • Applies cost containment measures as needed. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification and/or experience working in business and financial applications preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years relevant financial/business systems experience
  • Previous coaching or mentorship experience
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Infor or other ERP experience preferred

  • Strong Communication – written and verbal
  • Able to manage priorities, deadlines, and execute tasks

  • Customer service oriented.
