Responsible for the overall management of maintenance, sanitation & facility resources across 4 locations, including all buildings, structures & grounds.  Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and ensuring repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, security, structural building envelope & HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results. Will manage capital projects assigned & oversee the company’s facility operations with assigned staff, all while remaining in compliance with local, state & federal regulations.



  • Provide Project Management for facility capital projects as assigned.
  • Provide leadership & oversite for the Maintenance & Sanitation  departments and employee resources.
  • Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance is effectively & efficiently performed to maintain the value of facility assets. Develops and directs energy efficiency & environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of long-range facility plans which support the corporate strategy
  • Implement maintenance systems and strategies to ensure consistent industry leading OEE.
  • Ensure company maintains 100% levels of equipment required Preventative Maintenance practices.
  • Develop predictive maintenance practices including mean time to failure, heat and vibration analysis for all significant production assets.
  • Review and maintain standard work for both preventative and predictive maintenance practices. Plays a critical role in assuring overall safety, food safety, quality & continuous improvement.
  • Support engineering project work as needed and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on major installations and equipment change projects including coordination of contractors, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, and facility industry associations. Keep informed of new technologies & products & industry best practices to increase reliability and reduce operating costs within all functional areas managed.
  • Manage maintenance, sanitation & facility budgets and maintain conformance to that budget. Contributes to the development of the Facility Capital and O&M annual budgets and is accountable for adherence to budgets.
  • Ensure proper documentation for all activities and tasks for each function, according to guidelines and is responsible for all preparation and execution of audits for each functional area. Use Maintenance Management software on a daily basis to maintain records.
  • Identify long term strategies to develop maintenance, sanitation & facility resources. Also identify specific need for outside resources and schedule accordingly.
  • Ensure training of team members on all requirements they need for the position, including training on Chemical Manufacturer’s recommendations for application & dilution of cleaning chemicals. Ensure effective cleaning through proper training, ATP swabs and visual inspection.
  • Make recommendations to senior management on technical certifications, classes or other resources needed to increase organizational effectiveness.
  • Respond to emergency calls for maintenance.
  • Is responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
  • Strives to reduce waste, recycle products whenever possible and re-use resources when practical.
  • Works safely at all times, follows safety rules and policies and participates in scheduled training.
  • Reports injuries and near misses promptly and in required detailed format: proposes corrective action;
  • Other duties as assigned.



Directly supervises Maintenance, Sanitation & Facility employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Takes responsibility for safety within department and actively assesses hazards in their department and finds solutions to those hazards.


Reinforces a safety culture: leads by example, reminds employees to work safely, praises good behavior and safe practices, encourages suggestions, communicates consequences for unsafe acts, holds employees accountable, disciplines employees when warranted.

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) in engineering or related field from four-year college or university desired; and 3 to 5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Prior maintenance management experience in a food plant.
  • Proficiency with a CMMS. M3 is a plus.  


Ability to read and comprehend simple notices and instructions, including operating procedures and safety rules. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.



Excellent math and analytical skills. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw/interpret bar graphs.



Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Good organizational skills, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work within team concept.

Proficiency with Word, Excel, AutoCad and database software.

Ability to read blueprints and schematics to effectively diagnose and repair equipment.
