JOB TITLE: Program Manager / Volunteer Services and Events (PMVS)
REPORTS TO: Executive Director and Development Director
STATUS: Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the PMVS is responsible for managing all key aspects of the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity (CVHFH) volunteer services program. The PMVS serves as the chief point of contact for volunteers at every stage of their engagement with Habitat. The PMVS works closely with key staff to identify and carry out objectives and strategies for recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers, and serves as a member of the construction team. In addition, the PMVS plays a key role coordinating special events throughout the year. This manager strives to ensure that CVHFH remains a volunteer-driven organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Communications,
     Social Work, or some related area of study
  • At least one year of practical experience in a dynamic non-profit or other business setting
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set and meet priorities/goals, and function smoothly under the pressure of strict deadlines and shifting priorities
  • Detail-oriented, thorough and organized approach to professional duties, with strong work ethic and genuine commitment to “the team”
  • Highly effective verbal and writing skills; high level of comfort speaking in front of large groups
  • High level of computer literacy with demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, desktop publishing and Internet applications (experience with spreadsheets, databases, etc. is a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage volunteers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity and strong desire to work with the under-served and vulnerable in our community
  • Willingness to work some nights and Saturdays throughout the year (especially during peak construction seasons)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; work may require considerable standing, bending, kneeling and reaching  
  • Reliable transportation for traveling to and from office and/or build sites and other locations as needed; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of all volunteer programs and services 
  • Provide exceptional customer service to volunteers and key stakeholders to protect the Habitat brand and reputation
  • Respond to all volunteer inquiries so that they may be engaged with CVHFH promptly and effectively
  • Maintain the volunteer database/on-line sign-up system 
  • Develop and implement creative strategies for the recruitment, retention and recognition of volunteers
  • Represent the affiliate at volunteer fairs and seek opportunities for speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate all volunteer functions at build site, including registration, hospitality and safety/quality assurance
  • Seek in-kind donations of food, drinks and other volunteer supplies. Coordinate pre-build logistics and purchase materials necessary for volunteer support
  • Develop effective policies, procedures, evaluations and best practices to ensure success of the volunteer program
  • Obtain and remain current on relevant training for all program areas as required by Habitat to ensure the organization’s full compliance
  • Design, implement and lead successful orientation and recruitment efforts that are designed to enhance the effective use of volunteers throughout the organization, including the Habitat ReStore; develop programs to help promote strong volunteer leadership
  • Serve as a staff liaison to various volunteer-driven committees
  • Support the adherence to annual budgets for all relevant program areas
  • Assist Executive Director and Development Director with a range of fundraising initiatives throughout the year
  • Assist Executive Director, Development Director and Development Committee with the formation and implementation of annual plans for outreach to faith-based organizations, students and other community groups
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with past, present and future CVHFH families; individual volunteers; sponsor groups; donors; and board member
  • Other duties as required by business needs and requested by Executive Director and/or Development Director

Compensation Package:
  • $16-$18/hour (based on qualifications and relevant experience)
