The Director provides innovative leadership in designing and implementing the college's student recruitment strategies, making data informed decisions based on high quality data and through input and collaboration with key stakeholders, including:  Faculty, deans, student services, and high school and four-year college and university partners. The Director is responsible for the development of a comprehensive recruitment plan that aligns with the college's strategic priorities for student engagement, equity, and success. The Director must be committed to promoting student success, and adept in developing strategies to recruit and retain a diverse student population.

  • Provide leadership, management and implementation of a comprehensive student recruitment plan that aligns with the strategic priorities of the college and that meets the needs of a diverse student population.    
  • Presents and analyzes data regarding new student admissions to assess status toward goals, areas of concern, and relevant trends, and use of that data to inform recruitment initiatives that are in progress and for future planning.    
  • Serves as a campus resource for recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and transfer programs establishing relationships with key partners in all areas.    
  • Leads the Admissions staff including hiring, training, coaching, and providing developmental learning opportunities.    
  • Assess new and changing recruitment markets and strategies and be knowledgeable about best practices, trends, and our competition.    
  • Collaborate with the student services leadership team to promote student engagement, academic success, and student support.    
  • Communicates with prospective students, family members and supporters, community partners, and others to assist in the college search process and lead to enrollment at Kirkwood.    
  • Assesses and assists in developing needed technologies to support recruitment and improved service to students.    
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.    
  • Possess a solid working knowledge of admissions and recruitment, college student development, including the needs of diverse learners, and student services in general.

  • Work collaboratively with others in the department and across campus to fulfill the College strategic priorities.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION: Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

  • Master's degree in student affairs, marketing, communications, or related field.    
  • Five years of experience in college admissions with progressively increasing levels of responsibility.    
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing enrollment strategies and proven ability to meet enrollment goals, including strategies to recruit diverse student populations.    
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.    
  • Experience working with a customer relationship management (CRM) platform and student information systems.    
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and knowledge of trends and issues related to community college education and student success initiatives.
