Local Sales Manager

The Gazette is searching for local sales manager to lead a team of account executives focusing on local small to medium sized businesses in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. This position is responsible for leading a high performance sales team dedicated to providing media solutions to our business partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide direction and strategy to the local sales team and maintain current market trends
  • Manage the customer pipeline to successfully grow our client base of satisfied customers.
  • Plan and lead sales team meetings that not only focus on communication and strategy but also include information from product stakeholders and skill building exercises.
  • Meet regularly with each team member to provide timely feedback and discuss progress toward goal, inspect the funnel and provide skill and/or activity based information to improve performance.
  • Removes barriers, coach and brainstorms with team members to ensure achievement of company objectives 
  • Conveys business intelligence to internal stakeholders to successfully build products and pricing to meet our business partner’s needs.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or business (or a comparable combination of education and experience in local media sales or sales management.)
  • Experience selling print and digital media with 3-5 years of experience
  • The aptitude to maintain a broad understanding of the market as well as competitive media
  • Problem solving with strong decision making skills
  • Proven strong intrapersonal communication skills to foster and maintain relationships 
  • Experience with a CRM tool (Salesforce.com, etc) from both a sales rep level as well as a manager reporting level.
