Located in SW Cedar Rapids, ACP, Inc. is a division of the ALI Group, a Welbilt Company, and since 1969, has been a leader in manufacturing and designing commercial high-speed and microwave ovens used in some of your favorite restaurants. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our operations team!
The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and identifying and supporting opportunities for improvements in quality, cost and efficiency across a variety of processes and equipment.
This will include the following key accountabilities:
- Developing, evaluating, improving and documenting manufacturing methods and processes
- Assisting in the assessment and resolution of day-to-day material, quality, resistance/projection welding, fabrication, and assembly issues
- Developing and implementing process control and technical training techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments
- Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of safety, quality, cost reduction, and throughput
- Developing manufacturing processes, cost analysis, fixture designs, area layouts, quality plans, labor plans, inspection plans, etc. for product changes and new products
- Will lead and participate in continuous improvement events or projects
- Investigate manufacturing problems, provide root cause analysis and corrective action
- Perform statistical analysis and process capability studies to find and control variation in production processes
- Communicate effectively with all functional areas
- Provide leadership and direction to contractors and manufacturing personnel
- Act as a back-up to production managers who lead hourly production associates
Requires:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum 2-5 years of related work experience with proven results in product, process and quality improvements, as well as cost and efficiency savings.
- Experience or training in resistance/projection welding highly desirable.
- Strong root cause/problem analysis and resolution skills and abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to promote collaborative working relationships with production floor associates, leaders and other functional areas including design engineering, procurement, finance etc.
- Computer competency utilizing MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Lean manufacturing methodologies experience and/or training preferred.
