The Opportunity

The Engineering Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams to execute large strategic continuous improvement programs aligned with Operations Leadership priorities.  Specifically, this role will tackle capacity improvements, cost out initiatives, improvements to quality, supply chain redundancy/risk avoidance, and capital investment projects. 

How You’ll Work:

The Engineering Project Manager is based out of our production facility located in Kalona with the opportunity for flexible work arrangements including a flexible schedule and part-time telecommuting.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide Lean leadership, employing the full Lean toolbox to promote Lean methodologies and develop problem solving capabilities across the business
    • Collaborate with key business partners to lead projects and kaizen events by deploying structured problem solving to improve processes and eliminate waste
  • Motivate and drive cross-functional team performance toward achieving the common goal of completing projects according to the defined objectives, on budget and on time
    • Communicate project status to executive stakeholders, highlighting potential opportunities and threats

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 years in technical project management and/or continuous improvement
  • Project management qualification (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • ‘Hands on’ track record applying continuous improvement fundamentals such as: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, 5S, Visual Management, error proofing, and the DMAIC Way
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and time management skills

 

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Passion for driving improvement and leading change
  • History of success leading, prioritizing, and implementing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as packing, warehouse, molding, machining, and medium to small size product assembly
  • Experience with business processes including order entry, ERP systems, change management systems
  • Experience with ISO 13485 & 9001, FDA and MHLW requirements
