The Senior Software Developer is a senior level professional position within the Automation division of ESCO Group. This position is best described as a lead technical resource for internal and external software application delivery. This role will lead technical delivery and drive standards and best practices for all non-controls software projects for ESCO Group. The ability to learn new expertise across differing domains is required of this position.

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Serve as technical expert for software development and architecture.
  • Develop tools and products for use internally and with external customers.
  • Configure off the shelf products, as appropriate, to meet system requirements and client’s needs.
  • Define scope of work and software requirements.
  • Develop design and interface specifications.
  • Develop appropriate data and object models.
  • Develop test requirements.
  • Establish measurable performance requirements.
  • Determine security requirements and incorporate security requirements into design.
  • Develop code per defined requirements and specifications.
  • Perform unit testing; resolve defects and rework code, when necessary.
  • Identify, evaluate and lead initiatives related to disruptive technologies whether it benefits ESCO internally or for our external clients.
  • Mentor and train other developers.
  • Create and review user documentation.
  • Utilize, support, and enhance ESCO’s standards and best practices.
  • Understand and follow all safety, conduct, and policy requirements established by ESCO and clients.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or deemed necessary by management.



To be considered, candidates should have:

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in computer science or related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and five years or more of related work or industry experience; or
    • Completion of an Associate’s degree program in a related discipline from an accredited college, technical school, or university and seven years or more of related work or industry experience; or
    • A combination of equivalent education and or experience will be considered with solid evidence of success.
  • Demonstrated to be highly proficient with computer technologies including but not limited to, Windows Operating Systems, and the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with developing software in C#, JavaScript, or other programming languages.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL.
  • Demonstrated proficiency documenting standards and specifications.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, specifically scrum.
  • Proficient in test-driven development.
