Job Description:

Apache is seeking a self-motivated, detailed-oriented person to serve as a Quality Engineering Technician under the direction of the Quality Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for performing quality audits, inspecting products, and providing product quality support for internal or external customers. The Quality Engineering Technician should be able to troubleshoot technical problems, communicate effectively under pressure, and provide effective suggestions for improvement.

To be successful in this role, the Quality Engineering Technician should demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering terminology and be able to work well in a team. Outstanding Quality Engineering Technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn Apache products, processes, and customer expectations in order to make solid decisions concerning product acceptance.
  • Evaluate returned products, determine and document failure causes, advise credit and material disposition.
  • Document and communicate results of inspections, audits, material reviews, and investigations.
  • Conduct belt and hose testing as needed to verify product conformance to agreed standards.
  • Analyze operations and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Work alongside engineers to design, build, and test solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of Quality System documentation and records.
  • Request changes to QA plans, product structures, tolerances, and any other process controls to meet the specified quality standards.
  • Assist with Corrective Action Responses (CARs) where needed, and verification that corrective actions are implemented and effective.
  • Assist production supervisors and other personnel to determine what is good and what is non-conforming, when rework is required, and when further approval is required.
  • Obtain CAD files and prints required for orders.
  • Complete product inspections where required.
  • Complete measuring device calibrations when required.

Requirements:

  • Superb writing and presentation skills.
  • A willingness to learn and work overtime when required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, quality procedures, work orders, and engineering prints.
  • Ability to use measurement devices and test equipment to verify product throughout all stages of production.
  • Experience with manufacturing software; AutoCAD, and ERP systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PP, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Quality Management Systems, ISO 9000, process improvement, and warehouse methods.
  • Must be able to lift heavy packages (maximum 75 lbs), standing or walking much of the day, bending over and kneeling, climbing stairs, and pushing or pulling product.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree in related field or five years’ experience in a manufacturing/quality assurance environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
