Job summary
The Process Engineer performs process engineering and project work to support manufacturing.  The process engineer is also involved in day to day production issues, long-term process improvements, quality, maintenance, safety and environmental work to improve the process, reduce costs and down time, and increase overall plant capacity.  This position will work with all department managers, production, maintenance and lab personnel.  Must be able to multitask and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Perform process, engineering and project work.
  • Develop projects, including cost estimation and project management.
  • Develop process and instrument diagrams (P&ID’s).
  • Work on process improvements and optimization.
  • Perform detailed analysis of areas and processes to evaluate long term cost reduction.
  • Work with production and maintenance to maximize plant capacity.
  • Lead Safety committee and facilitate safety-related items.
  • Oversee site environmental requirements and maintain permits.
  • Provide support for plant trials, tests and protocols.
  • Support validation of process and project improvements.
  • Provide backup coverage for Production and Maintenance.
  • Execute other responsibilities and projects as required.

Minimum Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • 4 or more years’ experience working with chemical processes in a production facility
  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude 
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
