IIHR – Hydroscience & Engineering, The University of Iowa has an opening for an Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will contribute to the research mission of IIHR – Hydroscience & Engineering (http://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/) by supporting IIHR’s electronics and instrumentation shop. This person is responsible for electrical and electronic equipment in multiple facilities in partnership with the IIHR mechanical shop, staff, and UI Facilities Management and will help plan and design the fabrication, modification, repair, procurement and implementation of complex electronic devices, structures, and systems.

A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering degree is required. This position also requires at least three months of experience using, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic equipment and instrumentation with knowledge of both digital and analog electronics. Knowledge of operating test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers and knowledge of sensor outputs and communication standards (including but not limited to 4-20mA, PWM, TTL, RS232, RS485, MODBUS, USART, SDI) and sensor calibration is also required.
