Join our team at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach as a nutrition educator. EFNEP stands for Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.

The program works with adults and older youth in Linn County providing nutrition education. We are looking for someone excited to share information and help families on the topics of nutrition, cooking, meal planning, food budgeting and physical activity. 

The position requires the ability to:

  • Describe and demonstrate healthy eating and physical activity behavior.
  • Keep accurate records.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Speak and write in English.
  • Have knowledge of basic arithmetic skills.
  • Follow instructions.
  • Travel to various locations in order to conduct extension education programs.

Additional experience/qualifications preferred include:

  • Knowledge of nutrition.
  • Experience in meal planning and food preparation.
  • Experience delivering information one-to-one or in small groups in person or virtually.
  • Experience with Extension programs.
  • Demonstrated experience of successful engagement with populations who are low income.
  • Knowledge of local community agencies and resources that help families and individuals in need.
  • Experience with recruiting clients and/or sales.
  • Experience working in and with diverse communities, especially with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).
  • Ability to speak a language in addition to English. Spanish, Swahili, or French preferred.


This is a 30 hour/week position with a salary of $15.69/hour and provides full benefits.
