Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Clinical Track Nursing Faculty Position

The University of Iowa (UI) College of Nursing is seeking qualified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) applicants for a Clinical Track (Non-Tenure) full-time position in the Doctor of Nursing (DNP) Program. The FNP Clinical Track Faculty are responsible for performing direct patient care services year round within the recognized nursing specialty and patient populations. This position includes a 20% Fiscal year effort allocation to practice in the college’s Faculty Practice Group. These services may be provided on site, at satellite offices, via telemedicine, or through consultation contracts. Areas of particular teaching interest include teaching expertise in FNP practicum/clinical, advanced health assessment, and DNP projects. Academic year (9-month) teaching responsibilities will consist of teaching graduate courses, supervising graduate students in clinical rotations, mentoring graduate students across the graduate programs, and may include teaching in the undergraduate programs as needed. The position is full-time and will have two appointments in the college: a 20% Fiscal year (12-month) appointment for practice effort and an 80% Academic Year (9-month) appointment with an effort allocation across teaching, scholarship/research, and service commensurate with the faculty track. The applicant will need a foundation in practice, teaching and scholarship.

Required Qualifications include:

  • Earned doctorate in nursing (Research or Practice Doctorate)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
  • National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • DEA number and Iowa Controlled Substance License (or eligible for licenses)
  • At least three years or more experience in family and/or community health practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in formal teaching, mentoring, or precepting in nursing education and/or recognized preparation for teaching in an academic setting

Desired Qualifications include:

  • Professional service to nursing/health organizations
  • Record of scholarship (publication or professional speaking)
