Director of Alumni Engagement

Coe College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Alumni Engagement.  This position is responsible for organizing and administering alumni activities and assisting the Advancement staff in the fundraising activities within that constituency. This position will develop a proactive environment of positive alumni relations through event planning and social media coordination.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Direct alumni activities of Homecoming, area events, special events, alumni/student networking events, Coe Corridor Network, athletics gatherings, the Coe Alumni Mentoring Program and other engagement.
  • Direct the Alumni Council, including coordinating on-campus meetings of the council as needed.
  • Manage the Alumni Office, develop and implement new systems, as appropriate, along with management of the office staff, records and matters of general policy on budgeting for the Alumni Program.
  • Assist alumni programs and annual giving efforts through event planning, including developing engagement strategies for different affinity groups such has young alumni. This includes Day of Giving.  
  • Coordinate alumni engagement and outreach through various social media, video and online platforms.
  • Responsible for day-to-day correspondence with constituents and donor cultivation.
  • Work with the Office of Admission to develop and implement an effective network of alumni to assist in the recruitment of students.
  • Merge the activities of alumni engagement and annual giving by actively fostering communication and coordination within the Advancement Office about particular strategies and opportunities for alumni programming.
  • Manage the transition of graduating students to young alumni through coordination of the senior survey, senior survey, senior dinner and the senior class gift.
  • Assist the Advancement and Marketing staff, and other offices on the Coe campus, where alumni involvement is seen as appropriate or necessary.
  • Work with representatives of various constituencies to execute a successful program of awards and recognition on behalf of the Alumni Association (i.e. Alumni Award of Merit, Distinguished Service Award, Athletic Hall of Fame and Senior Award).
  • Serve as advisor to the Coe Student Alumni Association and attend meetings.
  • Work with Advancement staff to assist in and to assure the success of any campaign the College is engaged in or for which it is planning.
  • Work with Athletics in regards to the Hall of Fame program, including nominations, voting and inviting and planning the event.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • 1-3 years of event planning experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advancement experience in a higher education environment preferred.
  • Travel and regular evening and weekend commitments required.
  • Successful completion of background and driver check in accordance with Coe College policy.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and execute engaging and targeted events and outreach activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and organize tasks with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members to accomplish objectives of the alumni programs.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills, with the ability to creatively manage unexpected questions or situations in a positive manner.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated capacity to utilize and master additional technologies, including social media platforms and iModules.
