Coe College seeks qualified applicants who are passionate about teaching in a small liberal arts environment for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position beginning Fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach three accounting courses per semester (six per year) with class sizes ranging from 10 to 25 students and will have an interest in and ability to embrace Coe’s student-centered approach to education. The Department of Business Administration and Economics at Coe is the largest department on campus, consisting of 12 full-time faculty from diverse backgrounds. The department offers six majors, including public accounting, managerial accounting, business administration, economics, international business, and international economics. The accounting program at Coe has been growing in recent years and has been very successful in preparing and inspiring students for their careers after graduation. The College’s new Center for Creativity, Careers and Community works with the Department in offering support for accounting students seeking internships and jobs.


Candidates are required to have at least a Masters of Accountancy, M.B.A, or masters in a related field, with CPA, or CMA, or CGMA certification required within two years of hire. Candidates with a PhD in accounting or business will be preferred. Related work experience and/or college teaching experience will also be valued. 


The successful candidate is expected to teach principles of accounting courses, upper-division accounting courses, and occasionally, a first-year seminar on a topic of personal interest. Opportunities to teach in Coe’s May Term program and honors program are also available.
