The Office of the Dean of Students seeks an Associate Director to provide administrative oversight and direction for the Office of Leadership, Service & Civic Engagement. This position will hold responsibility for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive, university-wide leadership, service and civic engagement program. This position will also supervise four professional and scientific staff members, two AmeriCorps Volunteers, and one graduate student employee. Will be responsible for coordinating both credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing leadership courses and experiences.

 Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically minimum of 3 years) in higher education in advising, developing, coordinating, and evaluating student life programs, specifically in leadership, service and civic engagement programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with campus and community partners in developing and assessing service and civic engagement opportunities for students.
  • Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising professional and/or student staff.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Working experience in negotiation of contractual agreements in the areas of University, educational, leadership, and service programs.
  • Knowledge of assessment methods and activities; ability to assess programs and review students’ learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.
  • Extensive ability to apply organization’s performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget and managing expenses.
