Adjunct Instructor, Pre-Construction Services

Kirkwood Community College

Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our adjunct faculty team as a Design Build Technology Instructor in our Architecture and Construction Management programs.

The successful candidate will have:
  • A background in EITHER construction as a project manager, OR in architecture as a construction administrator;
  • Experience with writing and evaluating standard building contracts;
  • Experience with construction scheduling, including the critical path method;
  • Experience with the process of bidding a construction project;
  • Experience with construction procurement, including submittal review and processing;
  • Expertise in one or more construction procurement software packages, "Microsoft Project" is preferred.  

Teaching occurs mornings, afternoons and/or evenings and is comprised of face-to-face lecture, online learning, and hands-on laboratory activities.  Related work includes being accessible to work with lead faculty on scope of scheduled classes and approved syllabi.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide instruction including labs.
  • Work with other faculty members to understand course syllabi and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.

  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
  • Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3-years relevant experience. Associates degree or higher is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Teaching at a college level or experience in industrial training.
