Under minimal supervision, the instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effectively teaching a combination of network and system administration courses (15 credit hours) each semester. Experience with Cisco, VMware, and/or cybersecurity is required. Other responsibilities include evaluating and reporting student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and College policies and procedures, committee service, and curriculum development, maintenance, and assessment. The instructor may also be responsible for advising current and prospective students, and supporting department outreach and recruitment activities. Teaching load will be assigned by the dean and may include evening and weekend courses as well as distance learning classes.  Instructor will be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined by the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

  • Effectively prepare, organize, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate course syllabi and course handouts for each course taught.
  • Evaluate and record student performance/achievement on a regular basis and provide students with timely feedback.
  • Participate in student learning assessment projects.
  • Maintain established office hours and meet with students as necessary.
  • Collaborate in the development, assessment, and revision of curriculum.
  • Participate in the development and/or execution of departmental tasks and projects in the area of instruction or instructional support.
  • Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
  • Advise prospective and current students.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Maintain a minimum of five office hours per week and be available on an as needed basis for student questions and discussions regarding their performance.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and general public.
  • Read, understand, and express oneself clearly and effectively in oral and written form.
  • Participate regularly in professional development and growth activities such as internal and external workshops, and conferences.


Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. 


  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, LAN Management, Networking, or other computer-related discipline and bachelor's degree in any field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, LAN Management, Networking, or other computer-related discipline
  • Three years of recent, relevant full time work experience.
  • Teaching/training experience.
  • Master's degree.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, SSCP/CISSP, CWNP, CWNA.
