The Cultivate Hope Education Coordinator oversees and develops Matthew 25’s food educational programming.  The central focus for this position is on local foods related programming such as school gardens, farm camps, high school youth development and beginning farmers.  The Education Coordinator must be very well organized, experienced in education, skilled at volunteer coordination, and comfortable networking with educators.
Your Work:  Develop and coordinate local agricultural education programming, especially for youth, for programs such as elementary and middle school gardens, high school youth development and farm camps.  Work with teachers and principals to integrate school garden education seamlessly into curriculum.  Work with other Matthew 25 staff to guide volunteer groups at the urban farm and school gardens.  Help develop local-food based entrepreneurial programs for youth.  Develop and coordinate adult food education opportunities.  Network with other area organizations focused on healthy foods.  Facilitate food education activities at urban farm events.

Who you are:  You are a foodie, who understands and can articulate the value of healthy eating in a way that excites others.  You are an educator who is comfortable relating to people of all ages, backgrounds and education levels.  You are a person who understands traditional education models and how to use school gardens as an entry to project based learning in all subjects.  You are creative and willing to try new things, but also dependable and able to develop and follow a welldesigned lesson plan.  You have deep faith that guides your work in an open and non-judgmental way.  You enjoy working with volunteers and on a team, but also work well independently.  You are a networker, always seeking to meet new people and help them put their gifts to work.

Skills/Qualifications:  Educational experience required, preferably with elementary and middle-school students, but does not have to be in a school setting.  A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
