Job Information:

The State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL) at the University of Iowa, has a full time Research Support Manager position available.  Key responsibilities include:
  • Respond to inquiries regarding specific grant opportunities; make recommendations regarding economic feasibility; establish timelines to assure project deadline dates are met; monitor progress of proposal development. 
  • Develop budgets; comply with internal and sponsor deadlines; obtain institutional approvals; route proposals; authorize and train users on electronic submissions systems.
  • Develops, implements, and communicates policies and practices for contract and grants.
  • Reviews and ensures compliance with relevant organizational and regulatory/funding agency policies and procedures
  • Develop and implement strategic planning to meet grants and contract-related goals of SHL. 

For more than 100 years, the University of Iowa State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL) has served Iowans as the state’s public health and environmental laboratory. SHL is on the frontline of diagnostic testing, emergency preparedness and environmental monitoring. At facilities in Coralville and in Ankeny, SHL provides rapid and effective laboratory services, including testing for food-borne diseases, newborn screening, communicable diseases and environmental contaminants. Salary is $48,546 to commensurate with experience and qualifications.
