Instructional Track Faculty Positions

Job Information:

The University of Iowa College of Nursing seeks applicants with a strong foundation of teaching in an undergraduate pre-licensure program and incorporates active learning strategies. Instructional track faculty provide intensive teaching in classes and clinical practicums. The faculty positions in the undergraduate program are nine-month appointments in non-tenure instructional ranks of Lecturer and/or Associate Professor of Instruction.

Faculty position for the undergraduate programs are available in the following areas:
  • Medical-Surgical - Practicum (part time position)
  • Medical-Surgical - Didactic (fulltime position)
  • Gerontology - Didactic and practicum (fulltime position)

Areas of teaching expertise of particular interest include:

  • Foundation/Fundamentals of Nursing
  • Medical-Surgical Nursing (didactic and practicum)
  • Gerontology (didactic and practicum)            
  • Pathology 
  • Pharmacology 
  • Improving Health Systems – Quality and Safety
  • Teaching with active learning strategies including simulation

Education Requirements:
  • Earned doctorate in nursing or related field or other educational qualifications appropriate to the position (PhD or DNP Preferred)

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Established record of excellence in teaching, advising, mentoring, developing curriculum, and other pedagogical activities
  • Established record of excellence in service and/or professional productivity
  • Expertise and experience in teaching specialty
  • Licensed Registered Nurse and eligible for licensure in the State of Iowa
