Program Specialist

Job Information:

The Part-Time Program Specialist will assist International Programs in the implementation of student programming for international students.  This is an hourly position funded by federal grants ranging from 10-20 hours/week although the hours of this position vary depending on time of year.    


ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the International Student Advisor and International Program Coordinator  in developing cultural and social programs for short-term visitors to Kirkwood including CCI students, Pre-Academic Programs, and other groups as needed
  • Coordinate airport arrival and pick-up, transportation to housing and/or host family as required
  • Coordinate and assist with check-in/check-out of apartments and basic set-up of apartment furnishings and linens for arrivals.
  • Provide student transportation to/from medical appointments
  • Develop specific leadership activities and serve as host for students on social and cultural programs
  • Keep International Programs staff fully informed of events and any incidents arising during the program
  • Assist with new international student orientation planning and implementation
  • Assist with assessment of program upon departure
  • Work with bus companies, hotels, cultural sites to make reservations for student groups as needed
  • Answer phones/emails/assist students in the International Programs Office as needed
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

GENERAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH OR WITHOUT A REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Event Planning and Management
  • Ability to work odd hours including evening, weekends, and varied work schedule
  • Experience living in another country and/or working with people of diverse backgrounds


SALARY:

Pay band starts at $13.80
