Registrar Services Specialist

Job Information:

The Office of the Registrar is seeking a Registrar Service Specialist (RSS) that works with colleges, departmental representatives, faculty and services staff in oversight of course planning, provide academic section and special event coordination, assist with daily operations and general upkeep of the general assignment classrooms, and participates in adapting the general assignment classroom pool to meet future needs. Additionally, this position will also provide assistance with University commencement ceremonies.

Required qualifications include:
  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience (typically 6mo to 1 year) working in a related postsecondary academic setting.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis, including the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solution that resolve the problems.
  • Demonstrates working proficiency in operation and application of computer-based academic support systems or computer software applications related to a student information system (i.e. MAUI, PeopleSoft, Banner, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge and application of diverse communication techniques and relationship building skills, including listening skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work both as part of a team/work group environment and as a self-motivated individual.

Desired qualifications include:
  • Highly desired working knowledge of the major responsibilities and organization of specific business function that includes University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations as well as familiarity with the classroom operations.
  • Highly desired working knowledge of FERPA.
  • Highly desired working knowledge of campus facilities.
