The State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL), located in Coralville, IA, is looking for full-time temporarily client relations representatives for our COVID-19 support team. This work will be done remotely and the necessary computer equipment will be provided.   

Onboarding must be done in person at the State hygienic Lab. Pay is $17.28/hr and criminal background check is required. The duration of the work will be determined by testing and call volumes. 

Hours: 

  • Up to 40 hours a week
  • Hours needed are Monday through Friday 8AM to 5:30PM and Saturday 8AM to 12PM.

Duties:

  • Client Relations Representatives provide prompt, courteous customer service and support to SHL clientele. 
  • Representatives help answer or triage incoming questions having to do with COVID-19 sampling and testing. 
  • Training resources are available. 
  • This position also assists with the logging of sample data into the SHL Information Management System. 
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are critical to managing patient health information. 

This position does not handle COVID samples.

Job Duties include:

Operational Support and Management

  • Support the daily operations of the Client Services Unit of the State Hygienic Laboratory, including coordination of troubleshooting inquiries and follow-up with customers on issues that cannot be resolved immediately.
  • Exemplifies excellent customer service skills with attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to communicate information to clients professionally and with a positive client focused attitude.

Information Management

  • Provide data entry and data verification to assist with workflow and cross train within unit to know all                    data entry and verification functions and processes.
  • Gather and provide information using available resources.

Communication

  • Communicates, implements and interprets client service policies and procedures with clients, Client Service personnel and other departments within SHL.
  • Answering customer questions and resolving issues such as providing some lab test results, coordinating follow-up tests on samples, clarifying test results and other issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Six months to one-year customer service and data entry experience.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require accuracy, attention to detail, including accurate record keeping.
  • Evidence providing customer service in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, oral, and interpersonal, communication skills.
  • Demonstrate working proficiency with Microsoft Office software, (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Thirty words per minute typing ability.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic familiarity with clinical or public health issues.
  • Basic familiarity with LIMS or EHR systems.
  • Previous experience in data entry.
  • Basic office experience.
  • Previous experience in working in functional teams or involved in team building.
