Small Commercial Account Manager

TrueNorth, an insurance and financial strategies firm with headquarters in downtown Cedar Rapids, Iowa is in search of a Small Commercial Account Manager to work with our Risk Management team.  The Account Manager’s primary role is to maintain high retention by providing excellent customer service for our current clients through partnerships with our Service Centers and value-added service programs.  Additional duties will also include in-bound sales opportunities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, both internal and external
  • Work with clients to set expectations about carrier Service Centers. Assist in directing client with routine service needs to the service center.
  • Inform and educate clients about coverage, exclusions and exposures; inform clients about agency procedures; document electronic files accordingly
  • Assist with value-added service programs that are set for the department
  • Renewals: complete renewal process for accounts that are not in Service Center
  • Inbound Sales: Find appropriate markets for prospects within TrueNorth Companies and carrier guidelines
  • Inbound Sales: Complete and submit applications and related documentation to appropriate insurance markets
  • Maintain electronic files accurately and consistently to agency standards
  • Review, document and process all carrier & insured requests
  • Complete paperwork associated with clients on a timely basis
  • Maintain and follow written procedures
  • Travel or visit insurance companies and/or clients, when necessary
  • Work as carrier advocate for assigned companies
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and company information
  • Perform other duties as assigned appropriate to the position

Education & Experience:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • College degree or comparable work experience preferred
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in the commercial insurance industry, as an Account Manager or in a similar capacity
  • Commercial Insurance licenses required of ability to obtain within 90 day of employment; maintain annually
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and able to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications
