Manufactured Home Service Technician - Registered Apprenticeship Program

The Manufactured Home Service Technician is a full-time position.

Position Duties:

  • Refurbish, remodel and repair pre-owned manufactured homes, including flooring, carpeting, painting, drywall, carpentry, wiring, plumbing, siding, HVAC, and other home remodeling activities. 
  • Assemble and install new manufactured homes on-site in Hames communities.

This two-year Registered Apprenticeship Program offers the following:

  • Approximately 37 hours of on-the-job training each week with a Sr. Service Technician plus approximately 3 hours of relevant online class training each week. 
  • Up to 3 hours of class time each week paid by Hames Homes.

Wages:

  • Starting Wage: $15.00
  • 1st Wage Increase: $16.00 plus completion of 1000 OJT work hours and satisfactory job performance.
  • 2nd Wage Increase: $17.00 plus completion of 1000 OJT work hours and satisfactory job performance.
  •  3rd Wage Increase:  $18.00  plus completion of 1000 OJT work hours and satisfactory job performance.
  • Completion Wage: $20.00 plus completion of final 1000 OJT work hours, completion of online courses, and satisfactory job performance.

Work Hours:

  • 6:30am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, some overtime and on-call work. 
  • Four-day work weeks in the summer.

Position Requirements:

  • Must have aptitude for working with hand tools
  • Be dependable and willing to learn
  • Must be able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Pass a drug test
  • Stand, walk, stoop, climb, crawl, and kneel. 
  • Normal vision.
  • Good driving record required to be insurable in company vehicles.

Apprentice receives supply of hand tools upon hire.  If Apprentice completes 2-year program, Apprentice may keep the hand tools, otherwise they must be returned to Hames.

If Apprentice does not complete the apprenticeship and continue employment with Hames Homes after the 2-year program, Apprentice will reimburse Hames Homes the actual costs of the online classes, up to total $1000, which may be deducted from Apprentice’s last paycheck.
