GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Construction Management and Construction Technologist Apprenticeship Instructor.  The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base in Construction Technologies and Building Systems in both residential and commercial projects.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated construction leadership experience in directing on-site construction.  Successful candidate should be proficient in technical math, analyzing construction documents, general carpentry skills, and also have knowledge and experience in electronic scheduling software as well as electronic take-off software. Teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level is desirable.  Primary duties will include instructing students, meeting regularly with industry stakeholders and communicating with department staff, students, and other faculty. 
 
Teaching occurs mornings, afternoons and/or evenings and is comprised of face-to-face lecture, online learning, and hands-on laboratory activities.  Related work includes being accessible to advise current and potential students, serving on college committees, developing curriculum, evaluating and reporting student performance in compliance with college policies and procedures, assisting in the development and implementation of college initiatives, and promoting industrial technology programs to business and industry.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  •  Provide instruction including labs.
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Design curriculum aligned to industry standards.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.  Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Associates Degree in a construction management related discipline and 5-years relevant experience in a construction supervisory role.
  • Must hold or be able to attain the following credentials within the first year:
  1. OSHA 30
  2. Certified Associate Project Management (CAPM)
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
 
  • Bachelor / Master's Degree preferred.
  • Teaching at a college level or experience in industrial training.
