Summary/Objective 
The estimator is responsible for developing cost estimates on routine small projects under direct supervision for construction as required by clients’ documents and Abode blueprints.

Essential Functions

• Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid.
• Executes take-offs of construction documents.
• Inputs take-offs into a computer program or spreadsheet.
• Obtains pricing for materials.
• Obtains bids from subcontractors.
• Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
• Project timeline.
• Start date scheduling i.e. materials, permits, swppp, builders risk, bonds, locates, and subcontractors.
• Job site safety and job board walk-through weekly.
• Subcontractor bi-monthly safety meetings.
• Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate.
• Informs the immediate supervisor and or subcontractor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.
• Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Subcontractor files current in Software and Accounting.
• Updates weekly report and attends departmental meetings as required.
• Monthly Scorecard report.
• Photocopies documents and plans.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates both in a professional office environment and a job site environment. Office Environment - While performing the duties of this role, the employee routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Job site environments - While performing the duties of this role, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, hammering, saws, etc. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/ Hours of Work
This is a regular / full-time / exempt 45 hours per week position. Primary business days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Primary hours of work 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel
Some travel is expected for this position to be able to measure and bid prospective projects.

Education and Experience
Required 
• Two-year degree or certificate from an accredited two-year college, university or technical school for Building and Construction Estimating.
• 2-years of equivalent related experience in the residential construction industry.
• Scheduling and or estimating capacity.
Preferred
• CAD experience or equivalent platform experience preferred
• BS or AS Civil Engineering degree.
• 1-year of equivalent Civil Engineer experience.
• Certification to stamp site plans.
