Project Manager / Estimator
The construction project manager position is responsible for representing the firm with clients and consultants on virtually any range of subjects related to construction and for making decisions on behalf of the firm. This position is responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client’s documents and provides complete conceptual and total bid price.

1.Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
2.Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion.
3.Coordinate and direct subcontractors and suppliers.
4.Schedule projects, monitor and maintain schedule.
5.Work directly with owners and engineers to build successful projects for all stakeholders.
6.Ensure project paperwork, correspondence and submittals are processed in a timely fashion.
7.Directs team members (employees and consultants) at all levels of contract administration.
8.Controls any number of projects at various stages of work. Reviews records of accounts and inputs entries into to proper accounts.
9.Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs and construction time.
10.Plans layouts of projects and integrates engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval.
11.Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
12.Represents Company in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
13.Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic onsite observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
14.Prepares project designs and plans using computer assisted design software and equipment.
15.Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
16.Attends departmental meetings as required.
17.Maintain professional attitude with owners, inspectors, public and company personal.
18.Execute electronic take offs of construction documents of earthwork quantities using Agtek, or equivalent software.
19.Inputs take-offs into computer spreadsheet.
20.Oversee complete take-off of a utility project.
21.Analyze project specifications and break down into finite tasks to enable formulating a crew with the right equipment and materials for each task.
22.Estimate labor required to perform project tasks.
23.Study the plans and specs and find the hidden fine print that will cost the job money, and also find the hidden gems that, thru innovation, can make the job money.
24.Reviews and evaluates requests for estimates.
25.Prepares bid and ensures timely completion of estimates.
26.Must be able to work well under pressure and within project timelines.

Directly supervises employees and consultants involved in each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.
The employee may travel extensively when the construction site is not close to the main office or when responsible for activities at two or more sites. Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
1.High School diploma or GED
2.Minimum of five (5) experience in construction project management
3.Knowledge of electronic scheduling such as Microsoft project
4.Experience in Microsoft Office, Email Communications, electronic bidding, budgeting and scheduling
5.Must have a valid driver’s license
6.Proficient at interpreting specifications and reading blue prints
7.Ability to compute basic numbers read scales and use simple fractions
8.Ability to work well under pressure and within project timelines
9.Minimum of two (2) years of experience and knowledge in estimating, budgeting and scheduling projects
Preferred Education and Experience
1.Bachelor’s degree in architecture or construction science/construction management.
2.Minimum of two (2) years’ related experience in excavation and underground utility construction projects.
3.Knowledge of electronic bidding such as HCSS or Oman ETC.
4.Knowledge of electronic scheduling such as Microsoft Project or Primavera
5.Experience with Agtek software a plus
6.Knowledge of the construction industry
