Quality Systems Analyst, Clinical Improvement

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by having a thorough knowledge of all quality measures tracked by the MercyCare organization and third-party payers. The position will support providers and staff in training specific to quality measures within the Mercy system. The role will seek to identify process improvement and deploy system strategies to mitigate variability in workflows. Additionally, this position is a core member of the data quality team supporting data abstraction and reporting needs. 
Job Duties
  • Performs chart abstractions to support annual Regulatory and Payor quality reporting.
  • Identifies quality reporting trends and collaborates with multidisciplinary team to hardwire solutions to improve workflow processes. Reviews monthly clinical level quality performance reports for accuracy/trends. Recognizes patients not meeting quality measures by using reports and medical record review and communicate information to the end users to ensure appropriate information is collected and documented.
  • Participates in green belt projects and demonstrates knowledge of lean/six sigma processes. Leads medium to large projects that may include quality, operations, and IT staff. Represents the quality department on committees for system optimizations and utilization of EHR. 
  • Lead end user training on EHR (electronic health record) workflows to achieve quality metrics.
  • Supports quality related applications including report testing and validation.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Mercy staff regarding quality related workflows as well as a liaison between the quality department and end users.
  • Utilizes expert knowledge of software applications to create reports, dashboards, and export/import data.
  • Utilizes an expert understanding of EHR, including new/enhanced features that could impact quality.
  • Participates in the ongoing implementation of current regulatory standards to meet state and national agency requirements for external quality reporting.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and tracking of quality reporting.
  • Serves as technical manager over software applications utilized for quality reporting.
  • Directs the development and implementation of quality reporting programs to achieve organizational goals involving Mercy’s quality reporting.

Professional Experience
  • Required: Five years of technical support for clinical or business applications or equivalent experience in end-user support field.
  • Preferred: Experience with Epic and health care organization information services processes.
  • Preferred: Experience in interpreting/following quality reporting specifications.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Registered nurse (RN) license preferred
  • The department requires certification or proficiency in an application/module meeting the needs of the organization within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • Successfully completes and maintains appropriate Data Registry defined training/certification.
Physical Demand Requirements
  • Sedentary: Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a minute amount frequently
