Kent Corporation - Supply Chain Management has an open position within the Logistics Department for a Logistics Coordinator in Muscatine, Iowa. This is an hourly, replacement role with a complete benefit package reporting to the Manager of Logistics Services.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Source one of several modes of transportation (air, barge, truck, LTL, rail, vessel, containers)  to move Kent Corporation’s products from multiple locations to customers’ facilities

·         Maintain open communication with, and coordinate the shipping activities with GPC Production, Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, Warehousing, and all off-site warehousing and carriers.

·         Coordinate transportation of inbound shipments to all companies to maximize cost savings and control quality service

·         Assign appropriate carriers and tender several modes of freight, foreign and domestic

·         Continually monitor scheduled loading/delivery schedules to ensure compliance

·         Communicate to Customer Service any deviation from those schedules to facilitate timely notification to the customer

·         Pursue all opportunities to improve the value service provided by interacting with the existing base of contract carriers and outside warehouse personal

·         Pursue improvements through communication and automation advances to streamline  the transportation process

·         Maintain a level of training to ensure performance of tasks associated with other departmental responsibilities

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Typically requires an Associate degree in a relevant field plus 1-2 years’ experience; Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business or Agriculture Business, Economics or related discipline is strongly desired

·         Basic understanding of processes to support transportation logistics; familiar with variety of concepts, practices and procedures within the transportation logistics realm

·         Strong communication and people management skills with ability to cultivate strong business relationships on multiple levels

·         Customer service operated, personable and positive attitude; understands the value of cooperating with co-workers

·         Evidence of ability to prioritize responsibilities

·         Strongly proficient in a host of computer-based software applications, e.g., Microsoft Office

·         Evidence of ability to analyze schedules/data/costs, and make recommendations

 

EXPERIENCE:

·         Prior transportation dispatching preferred

·         Proficient in the use of Microsoft Offices Suites

·         Process Improvement experience is a plus

·         Experience of Microsoft Dynamics AX or ERP system(s) is a plus

·         Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus

·         Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements is a plus

·         Ability to work with little supervision and track multiple processes

TRAVEL: 

·         Varies by workload requirements and would be around 20% on average
