Assistant Dog Trainer

JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Continuing Education and Training Services is currently looking for Assistant Dog Obedience instructors to assist with our dog obedience classes in Cedar Rapids.  This position takes guidance and responsibilities from the lead dog obedience instructor while working with students to ensure class outcomes and objectives are met.  The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching positive reinforcement dog training techniques, and be willing to work primarily on evenings and weekends for one to two nights a week for a total of 3-6 hours per week, with the opportunity to be promoted to a lead instructor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES                    
  • Consistently attend scheduled classes.
  • Facilitate an outstanding participant experience by giving exemplary customer service.
  • Maintains student records, attendance, and testing information
  • Conducts follow-up with students as needed
  • Communicates regularly with administration, teachers, and students
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Clean and straighten classroom before and after each class.
  • Answer questions and provide resources as appropriate to participants.
  • Deliver course content and ensure that learning outcomes are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
  • AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen Evaluator
  • Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer (ABCDT)
