Overview:
Cultivate Hope is a rapidly expanding program of Matthew 25. Cultivate Hope includes a two acre urban farm education center with a greenhouse, shelter and outdoor classroom as well as production beds. Additional programming includes school gardens, summer camps and resourcing beginning farmers. Matthew 25 seeks a leader who is a dynamic, people-focused and passionate about local foods production and education.

Our mission is to empower people to transform neighborhoods and we envision a thriving, connected community where people are valued and talents are multiplied; where neighborhood families have access to safe, affordable housing and healthy food; and where youth are empowered through reading and the creative arts.

Essential Duties:
  • Oversee development of Matthew 25 Urban Farm in a way that generates revenue, is a model of organic, local foods production and education and which is aesthetically pleasing.
  • Organize and carry out educational and community events at the urban farm

  • Develop and monitor budgets and strategic plans.
  • Supervise and develop volunteer support for the farm.

  • Support development of sustainable, local foods educational programs on the farms and at partner schools.
  • Resource beginning farmers and gardeners
  • Develop and maintain organizational partnerships.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Three or more consecutive years of experience planning, planting, growing and harvesting a variety of vegetables (i.e. experience in farming and/or operating a farm)
  • Experience in teaching about the natural environment and local foods, preferably within the arena of public education
  • Three or more years of experience in market development and produce sales.
  • Team-centered approach. Willing to learn new skills.
  • Passionate about farming, local foods, food education and food challenges of low-income residents.
  • Enjoys working with volunteers and interacting with the public.
  • Comfortable working within a faith-based organization.
  • Experienced with budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Understands the rhythm of farm life with  seasonal variations in hours.
