The Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is seeking a full-time Prior Authorization Specialist to complete prior authorizations and assist in scheduling diagnostic scans for the Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:   

• Complete prior authorizations and/or pre-determinations/benefit investigations for diagnostic testing, procedures and/or drug therapies.
• Complete scheduling process for testing, procedure or therapy; notification and education of patient regarding appointment date/time and any necessary preparation for appointment.
• Research and maintain a working knowledge of patient financial expectations and assistance programs in conjunction with PCI Financial Counselor.
• Maintain working knowledge of third-party payments procedures.
• Is knowledgeable with current insurance plans and managed care procedures.
• Is knowledgeable of daily schedules and clinic flow, correlating clinical provider/ancillary appointments when applicable.

 Requirements:

• The successful candidate must maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of professionalism at all times.
• The qualified individual will be patient focused, possess excellent communication skills, and must work well with team members.
• Must also have a high level of comfort in working with computer systems.
