GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
The Pet Grooming Program Assistant is an integral member of our educational team, dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of the grooming program and assisting instructors, students, and clients in daily activities. This role blends administrative duties with hands-on support, contributing to a holistic, efficient, and student-centered learning environment.

- DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, student record maintenance, tool and supply inventory management, and any other administrative tasks required by the program.
- Classroom Assistance: Aid instructors during lessons by prepping materials, helping with demonstrations, and managing any required tech or equipment.
- Salon Maintenance: Ensure grooming stations are well-maintained, tools are sanitized, and the overall salon environment meets safety and hygiene standards.
- Student Support: Serve as a point of contact for student queries, guide them in practical exercises when necessary, and offer assistance with their grooming kits.
- Client Management: Help students coordinate with real-world clients, ensuring all necessary paperwork, such as vaccination records, are in order. Also, assist in managing any client-related issues or concerns in a professional manner.
- Externship Coordination: Help connect students with externship opportunities and liaise with professional grooming salons for placements.
- Event Assistance: Aid in organizing events such as guest speaker sessions, field trips, and workshops, ensuring they run smoothly.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest grooming techniques, tools, and trends to provide current knowledge and insights to students and staff.
- Safety Oversight: Ensure all safety guidelines are followed in the salon, immediately addressing any potential hazards or issues.
- Feedback Collection: Regularly collect feedback from students about their learning experiences, aiding in the continual improvement of the program.
- Represent the College in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
- Assume responsibility, deal effectively with problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, staff, administrators and other contacts.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written communication.
- Possess strong human relation skills and the ability to effectively relate to diverse personalities.

- PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

- Diploma or Certificate from a recognized Pet Grooming program.
- Previous experience in pet grooming, with a focus on multiple breeds and styles.
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
