Director of Shelter

All God's Creatures (AGC) is a non-profit community initiative for the welfare of animals and people. We see an immense need for an animal shelter in Henry County. We also see the need to befriend socially isolated neighbors including youth, the elderly, veterans, the incarcerated, and disabled people. We believe our shelter and volunteer programming will give hope, purpose, and friendship as we connect paws and people.

Our Vision

To provide a safe, enriching place for stray and abandoned animals in our county while finding them forever homes. We'll also be providing rewarding volunteer experiences and engagement opportunities for residents of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

The Opportunity

Executive Director of All God's Creatures Animal Shelter, Henry County, Iowa

Salary range 35-43k. Single healthcare package negotiable. 

We are seeking an individual with the passion, experience, and courage to lead the start-up of the shelter operations.  We offer a strong board of directors ready to partner in the heavy workload of a start-up operation.  We already have significant funding that has allowed us to purchase a building that is very suitable as an animal shelter.  We have tremendous community support that can translate into reaching our start-up fundraising goals in as little as six months.

Valid drivers license required, experience with animals required.

REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Must be passionate about animal welfare
2. Significant experience (3+ years) or education in leadership, organization, and management. Prefer experience with shelter management and supervision of shelter operations.
3. Prefer education in veterinary technician or veterinary assistant, or equivalent experience.
4. Associates degree or equivalent skills in communication and basic mathematics desirable.
