Park Cedar Rapids is currently searching for outgoing personalities to join our team. Persons interested in helping us meet our customer service objectives as we continue to implement new Parking Technologies in downtown Cedar Rapids and improve overall parking operations in a growing community are welcome to apply. Applicants should apply in-person at the Park Cedar Rapids office located at 349 4th Ave SE in downtown Cedar Rapids. Business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Shift Coordinator position is responsible for organizing and assisting in daily workflow and communication for the parking operation. Shift Coordinators are on-site 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to assist with any possible customer issues. Responsibilities include assisting customers (on the phone/in person/through remote applications), filtering communication from management to front line staff, monitoring parking equipment from centralized command center, monitoring a camera system,working with computers, submitting daily logs, and helping out with event parking. The position being hired for is three eight-hour shifts per week. The shifts are Friday and Saturday 10:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. and Monday 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Customer Service: Park Cedar Rapids strives to put customer service as the top priority and interactions with the public are a regular occurrence. The following attributes are necessary components of the job:
  • Effective Communication, both verbal and non-verbal: Position requires answering incoming phone calls and interacting with intercom system
  • Positive Attitude and willingness to assist others, learn quickly, and adapt to operational changes
  • Able to grasp knowledge of operation and explain rules, regulations, and procedures to customers
  • Ability to work well with a team and provide guidance to team members
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to asses operational situations and take best course of action to assist challenges and resolve customer service issues
  • Strong face-to-face customer service experience
  • Able to assist field staff and coordinate operational efforts
  • Able to assist with amenities program: jump starts, tire fills, security escorts, and other directives focused on customer service.

Office Administration: The shift coordinator position is an extension of the administrative office and is the first point of contact for the majority of our parking customers.
  • Strong organizational methods
  • Accurate documenting and reporting
  • Experience using various software applications, including on Windows and Android operating systems
  • Point of Sales: Cash handling/credit card processing

  • Outgoing personality
  • Regular, consistent attendance
  • Knowledge of the geography of Cedar Rapids
  • Typing at moderate speed and high accuracy
  • Software experience with Windows programs: Excel, Word, SharePoint Ability to learn industry specific software applications on Windows and Android operating systems
  • Ability to operate the following equipment and tools: personal computer with Windows-based applications, Windows- and Android-based tablets, Intercom system, and two-way radios
  • Ability to work under general supervision and exercise good judgment (i.e. following directives, reporting any disturbances to management, documenting daily reports)
  • Ability to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and technology
  • Self-motivated: Use of ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks
  • Ability to train and teach new staff
  • Critical thinking
  • Cash handling experience
  • Documented prior experience to establish competency in duties performed and use of required equipment
  • Full/wide amount of availability
  • Valid Iowa Driver’s License
  • Graduation from High School or GED program
  • Reliable transportation to and from work

Requires the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Sufficient manual dexterity, permitting the employee to operate equipment and tools
