Job Information:

100% Full-Time Administrative Services Coordinator – University of Iowa, College of Dentistry, Dental Research.
 
Plan, develop, update, counsel & disseminate information and direction for all aspects of the College of Dentistry, Student Research Program (SRP) and Oral Science Graduate Program including registering and collecting grades.  Serve as liaison for program participants, faculty mentors, program directors, intra-collegiate and inter-collegiate administrators and funding agencies.  Serve as human subjects/IRB Coordinator for the College of Dentistry.
  • Plan, develop, update, counsel, disseminate, coordinate and monitor the predoctoral student research program.
  • Serve as liaison for program participants, faculty mentors, program directors, intra-collegiate and inter-collegiate administrators and funding agencies.
  • Analyze information and data collected for preparation of reports.
  • Coordinate and arrange all meetings & conference needs for student research participants.
  • Process and approve all travel needs for student research conference attendees, and complete all workflow requirements for AP/PO travel related activities.
  • Provide registration information for research course. Collect & register students, verify on MAUI, collect grades and record on MAUI.
  • Maintain and monitor the trainee activities of the T90/R90 training grant, including solicit trainee reports, reduce data, and prepare and submit annual progress report to NIH. 
  • Develop, create and maintain web page for SRP, Local AADR event and Dows Research department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Initiate IRB regulatory approval requests, maintain IRB modification requests, follow status and address IRB clarification requests for investigator.
  • Maintain current knowledge of IRB issues and best practices.
  • Initiates appointments and terminations for research trainees and research awardees and counsels trainees on protocol, support procedures, and questions regarding appointment documents.
  • Assist in preparation of operating budgets and grants for administrators and funding agencies.
  • Maintain student research accounts, monitor and review program awardees research expenditures and approve and maintain funding limitations.
  • Prepare and present periodic and special reports for University Administrators and/or granting agencies.
  • Serve as liaison to IRB, counsel faculty, staff and students in following and maintaining IRB regulations and serve as delegate for all investigators.
  • Assist in communicating changes of IRB regulations and best practices for the College.
  • Address all program inquiries; research information before disseminating information & responses.

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience is required.
  • 6 months - 1 year work experience:
  • in an academic college administrative support role;
  • submitting and managing IRB process and applications;
  • utilizing the NIH xTrain system and submission of training grant progress reports and grant applications; and
  • with computer software applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Web page software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

HIGHLY Desirable:
  • Minimum (1-3 years) experience working with students, grad students and faculty simultaneously meeting multiple concurrent needs.
  • Minimum (1-3 years) experience registering students and submitting grades using the University of Iowa Maui System.
  • 6 months – 1 year work experience:
    • initiating and working with University HR electronic appointment and termination system; and
    • with University policies, procedures and regulations.

Desirable:
  • Minimum (1-3 years) experience working with student research programs.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Web pages.
 
Salary:  $35,271 to commensurate.
