The Senior Accounting Specialist is responsible for leading the financial close process for a number of the subsidiaries and assisting with the preparation of the Company’s financial statements in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).

 

Essential Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a number of the subsidiaries
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, policies, and relevant regulations
  • Prepare journal entries and month-end reconciliations
  • Assist with the preparation of the Company’s financial statements

General Accounting:

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and general ledger
  • Manage all accounting functions within the accounting software
  • Review all invoices for appropriate internal approvals and proper tax charges. Manage necessary corrections or discrepancies
  • Manage timely payment of all invoices, including disbursement of weekly check run
  • Open and close capital projects based on information received from Project Manager
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies and resolve any issues that arise
  • Assist with the management of monthly cash flows and forecasting

Audit, Tax and Regulatory Support:

  • Provide support for external audits
  • Prepare required documentation for audit processes
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with tax regulations
  • Responsible for regulatory reporting

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance accounting processes and procedures
  • Implement best practices to increase efficiency and accuracy

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Operations, and Executive Management
  • Support the Payables, Billing and Inventory functions as needed

 

Requirements

We are looking for people with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a senior-level capacity.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with eLation and Great Plains is a plus.
  • Must be extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior experience in the ISP or telecommunications industry is advantageous.
