This position is primarily responsible for inventory cost accounting, standard cost analysis and product and division profitability analysis. The position will use data and knowledge to provide management with costing data to drive decision-making and enable operations to operate efficiently and at less cost. Although inventory accounting will be the focus, the position will also be expected to be a team player and help the accounting department, including month-end closing and reporting activities.
This position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to trouble-shoot and solve problems independently, and a curiosity and initiative to improve.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Display and promote company values (ASPIRE: Attitude, Safety, Passion, Integrity, Relationship, and Evolve)
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including the use of standard costs
  • Lead the development of standard costs on an annual basis
  • Review standard and actual costs for variances as part of the month-end close
  • Report on margins by product and division
  • Reconcile inventory accounts at month-end
  • Monitor excess and obsolete inventory, propose adjustments to the E&O reserve as necessary
  • Coordinate year-end physical inventory counts with the auditors
  • Work closely with the purchasing team to monitor material purchases and PPV
  • Analyze account variances, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecast
  • Compile and prepare assigned work papers and schedules for annual audit
  • Provide assigned reports and analysis to department managers
  • Assist in month-end closing, prepare journal entries, and perform balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist in special projects as assigned
  • Recommend process improvements for increased efficiencies
  • Firm understanding and compliance with company’s Good Manufacturing Practices and Safe Practices
  • Regular attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relatable field required
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ of experience in a relatable field preferred
  • Experience with ERP software preferred
  • Experience with inventory analysis and standard costs preferred

HOURS

  • 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday
