This is a tempoary assignment lasting about 12-14weeks in length.   

 

SUMMARY

 

Work closely with the Cost Accountant to help manage the organization’s manufacturing cost system, development of new product costs, and providing timely and accurate financial information 1) in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles(GAAP) and 2) for manufacturing and inventory planning, control and decision-making.  This positions main responsibility includes updating spreadsheet templates with month end GL data, as well as reconciling and providing analysis of the results

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review the recording of manufacturing, labor, distribution and shipment transactions, work orders, bill of materials, etc for accuracy and reasonableness. 
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variances from standard cost. 
  • Prepare and issue manufacturing efficiency reports. 
  • Reconcile balance sheet workpaper accounts. 
  • Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability. 
  • Participate in the Engineering Change Notification (ECN) process and Non-Conforming Material (NCM) process. 
  • Audit spreadsheets aganist system results. 
  • Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle counting and physical inventories. 
  • Be an active participant in creating and supporting a strong internal controls environment. 
  • Prepares year-end schedules, ensuring timeliness and accuracy as requested.
  • Integral in various special projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in accounting or a related field; 1-3 years of general accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret such items as general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or simple governmental regulations.
