Accounts Payable Coordinator

Frontier Co-op is seeking a Full-time, Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our team.

  • Location:  Norway, Iowa (Just 15 minutes SW of Cedar Rapids)

SUMMARY

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices. Interact with suppliers and internal customers, responding to any questions regarding payment timing and payment detail. This position will have the opportunity to learn all major accounting processes, such as reconciliations, KPI reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sort, code, and verify invoices; Distribute to authorized party to review/approve, as necessary
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues; respond to vendor inquiries
  • Enter and/or upload invoices into our ERP system
  • Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
  • Reconcile accounts payable subsidiary to general ledger
  • Prepare analysis of key balance sheet and/or operating expense accounts, as assigned.
  • Monitors accrued purchase order report and payables subsidiary ledger for aging payables
  • W9 review and validation
  • STE (sales tax exemption) form management
  • Be an active participant in creating and supporting a strong internal controls environment
  • Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Willingness to learn the major transactions initially responsible for Accounts Payable
  • Beginning knowledge of GAAP accounting processes, preferred
  • Experience using a ERP or mainframe accounting systems, in a manufacturing or Distribution environment
  • Experience using Microsoft software, exposure to Excel such as pivot tables, formulas and sorting/filtering features
  • Ability to process a high volume of transactions through multi-tasking and prioritization while meeting deadlines.
  • Be a self-starter with limited day-to-day direction
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to problem solve and apply judgment including understanding the sensitivity of confidential information
  • Team player, willing to periodically perform additional functions and/or work longer hours during certain times during the year.
  • Experience in calculating general accounting formulas

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates degree or AP certifications preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, correspondence, reports and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with a variety of people and respond to basic questions in situations where common courtesy and tact are needed.

QUANTITATIVE SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, and volume. Ability to use such concepts in practical situations. Ability to use a computer to create spreadsheets and charts and run reports.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Unix preferred.
  • Timeliness and attention to detail a must.
  • Good data entry skills and 10-key proficiency
