University of Iowa Health Care's Finance and Accounting Department is seeking a Manager of Revenue & Reimbursement will supervise and coordinate the preparation of all third party reporting within time constraints as designated. Manager will work closely with the Director of Revenue & Reimbursement and other UI Health Care staff and keep them apprised of the issues of relative importance affecting or potentially affecting third party settlement. Manager will assist the Director of Revenue & Reimbursement with monthly financial close reimbursement calculations and will assist in the development of audit support for these calculations.

Duties include:

  • Assist with monthly net revenue analysis and due to/from third party accruals, coordinating with UIHC & UIP accounting groups to provide current reimbursement impacts.
  • Assist with the UIHC annual top-down budget and Org/Departmental budgeted net revenue allocation.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Revenue & Reimbursement departmental budget.
  • Supervise and coordinate the preparation of all third party reports, including but not limited to: the Medicare Cost Report, Medicaid Cost Reports and Medicaid DSH Surveys and supervise the audits of these documents.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of the due to/from third party accruals and the maintenance of the audit support for those accruals
  • Interpret Medicare and Medicaid regulations to insure compliance with existing regulations, and assist in the development of systems and processes used for data collection and reporting.
  • Work closely with the Revenue & Reimbursement Dept. and other UI Health Care staff and keep them apprised of the issues of relative importance affecting or potentially affecting third party settlement.
  • Provide analytical and educational support for various reimbursement initiatives.
  • Provide support and analysis for departmental and management questions and for new requests as they arise.
  • Support clinical departments and coordinate education on reimbursement topics
  • Supervise the Cost Report staff, including hiring, training and performance management.
  • Develop/implement cross-training procedures for the Cost Report staff

Required

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Four (4) years of relevant healthcare accounting experience in hospital reimbursement.
  • 5-7 years accounting, auditing, cost accounting, budget and/or financial analysis experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications

Desired

  • CPA, MHA or MBA is preferred
  • Experience in an academic setting
  • Knowledge of physician reimbursement is preferred
  • experience with Epic patient accounting system and Health Financial Systems (HFS) cost report software
  • Medicare Disproportionate Share (DSH), Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Organ Acquisition reimbursement experience
  • Experience with Medicaid Hospital-Specific Limit (HSL) and Upper Payment Limit (UPL) calculations and with Medicaid DSH and GME reimbursement.
  • Experience with HFS software and Epic patient accounting system
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa Health Care policies and procedures
